In chinese Five Arts, the practice of Chinese TCM using the 5 elements in relation to health can be traced back thousand years back.
I am publishing a series of health article in relation to bazi/four pillar of destiny. The chinese using five elements to exemine the health of a person is similar to how we use bazi or four pillar of destiny to analyse a person health.I would like to kick-off the first human body organ; Spleen.
Spleen as explains in Wikipedia:
The spleen is an organ found in all vertebrate animals with important roles in regard to red blood cells and the immune system[1] In humans, it is located in the left upper quadrant of the abdomen. It removes old red blood cells, holds a reserve in case of hemorrhagic shock, especially in animals like horses (not in humans) and recycles iron.
It synthesizes antibodies in its white pulp, removes from the circulation antibody-coated bacteria and antibody-coated blood cells.
Recently it has been found to contain in reserve half the body's monocytes in its red pulp that upon moving to injured tissue such as the heart turn into dendritic cells and macrophages and aid wound healing.
It is one of the centers of activity of the reticuloendothelial system, and can be considered analogous to a large lymph node. Its absence leads to a predisposition to certain infections.

Symptoms
An enlarged spleen does not cause many symptoms, and the symptoms that it does cause may be mistaken for many other medical conditions. Because the enlarged spleen lies next to the stomach and sometimes presses against it, people may feel full after eating a small snack or even without eating. People may also have abdominal or back pain in the area of the spleen. The pain may spread to the left shoulder, especially if parts of the spleen do not get enough blood and start to die.
When the spleen removes too many blood cells and platelets from the bloodstream, a variety of problems may develop. These problems include anemia as a result of too few red blood cells, frequent infections as a result of too few white blood cells, and the tendency to bleed as a result of too few platelets.
